Burrr it's so cold! Yesterday I went out and bought a lovely thick cream coloured winter coat with flease lining and a big hud which I quickly wrapped around my ears while my teeth chattered. It's the kind of weather that makes you want to stay home with the curtains drawn and the heat turned up, wrapped in a blanket with the dog curled up next to you snoring away while the rain drums on the roof and it grows dark outside. I've not been doing much of that though over the past few days, I've seen quite a lot of DL and it's actually been really lovely. She came to commedy on Wednesday, and then on Thursday she came to my place after work and I made dinner, and then yesterday we spent the day shopping and went out for dinner last night to my favourite Thai restaurant. We've been managing to have quite good conversations about things and she knows that I'm seeing some one casually although she knows nothing about her, and she's going to start looking for a new place to live so that she can move out of her mum's in the new year. I also had a catch up phone conversation with my friend Sean on Thursday night and he made me really belly laugh when he did a very good impression of Borat, and told me about his gay crush. My comment in response to his embarrassment was,
"Everyone wants to get shagged up the arse at some point in their life whether they're male or female, gay or straight,"
to which he cracked up and said he was going to put it on his facebook page as one of his favourite quotes. He also said, "I really miss you. I can't talk about sex with anyone else," which was a complement, I think, and apparently he gets wine served in some of his evening lectures as part of his MA course which I thought was fantastic.
Tonight, well in about an hour actually I'm heading in to town to go for a meal and then to Soho with the girls for a birthday party, and tomorrow I have a fun packed day. In the morning I'm going to
Erotica 2007
with some friends and in the evening I'm meeting the girls from work to go to the pub. I'll try and write again tomorrow to let you know what I bought, no doubt I won't be able to resist walking past all the stalls selling sex toys without buying a little something to keep me tick tick tickking!

Wet in all the wrong places!
What a week! Terrible weather, terrible! I'm so glad I don't live in Sheffield anymore, for the readers who live overseas Sheffield was one of the worsed affected cities and came to a complete stand still for a few days with hundreds of people needing shelter when their homes were flooded. I did give ex flatmate a call and thankfully my old flat is fine, though. So at the weekend I went to see my mother and the rest of the family up north. Had a lovely time as there was a celebration party in honour of my degree result on Saturday night and everyone came and got slightly drunk and spent the evening singing and dancing around the living room very loudly, the poor neighbours. I honestly have a wonderful family and they all couldn't stop telling me how proud they were and my aunty started crying and said, "I can't believe you've moved to London, I couldn't do it!" I got cards and gifts and all the kid cousins were there which was lovely, as I haven't been home in about three months to see everyone. Sunday mother and I were very hung over and didn't really get moving until the afternoon. We went shopping for a new suit and blouses and shoes for me, and only came back with the shoes, so somewhat unsuccessful.
Monday I was supposed to go to Alton Towers with Sean who came over from Sheffield to my mother's house, but what with the terential rain it never happened and so we went in to town instead and had lunch and did some shopping. Sean got stranded with us overnight as Sheffield station was closed due to the flooding, so he stayed over and we both left in the morning, he to go back home and me to go on to a small little town near Wales where I did my a-levels. Baby G and I were asked to go back to give a talk to the students about university life and why "they really should go!" So we spent Tuesday and Wednesday there which were quite enough! It was lovely to see all the staff though and I've exchanged eamail addresses with them and so that was nice. By the time I got back to London on Wednesday I was too shattered to go to the discussion group and so gave it a miss and went to bed instead. Yesterday I timed and practiced the route to work again with the dog, and then had a singing lesson in the afternoon which I thoroughly enjoyed. I'm not doing a lot today, it's peeing it down outside so I'm intending to stay in and hunt for a new home on the net. DL is coming over later because we're going to pride tomorrow and then she has a school reunion in the evening which she wants me to go to with her. Oh and I got lost for the first time this morning taking Una to the vets. It's ridiculous! I can get all the way across London with no problem, yet I get lost taking the dog five minutes up the road!
Monday I start the new job, aaaah! Very very nervous! Then in the evening I'm seeing HBS, haven't seen her since April so that's very exciting, plus she made it quite clear what she's coming over for so hopefully I'll get some much needed attention! Tuesday evening I have another singing lesson and on Wednesday it's group, so I'll be shattered by Thursday. Will try to write more next week though and make it more interesting to read, rather than just a list of what I've been doing.

Snow
For the first time in two years we have snow, and I mean propper snow, the kind that you sink into when you walk, the thick, powdery, fluffy type that makes for excellent snowballs... It's beautiful, breath taking, and a royal pain in the ass. Everything and everyone grinds to a halt in Britain when we have severe weather of any kind. Schools close, people don't show up for work, public transport if it runs at all is disrupted and slow... Everything you could think of. It's crazy, it happens to us every couple of years and every time people act like they've never seen snow before. Grown adults turn in to children and go out in the streets and parks having snowball fights. And yes, I am one of them, I have to admit. There is something incredibly romantic about snow. The last time it snowed propperly here DL and i were together. We went to the park and had a snowball fight, and I tackled her and she landed on her back, with me on top of her, and we just lay there in the deep snow, kissing and laughing, not caring about the cold. That was one of those moments, one of those perfect memories that comes to me on a day like today, as I stand and throw snowballs for the dog to jump up and catch. Later that same day, the one I just spoke of with DL, we went in to the street and built a huge snowman together. We gave him a carrot nose and a wooly hat and used dog biscuits for the eyes, and she took photos of me standing there hugging the damn thing. It's not the same though now, the snow... Half of me wishes I could join in with the screams of laughter from the people in the street, and pelt a lover with snowballs until my hands are numb with cold, and then go inside and take a hot shower together and then fall in to a warm bed and make love. Another part of me wishes it would just go away and take with it the longing I feel today, because I don't want to build a snowman by myself...

It snowed... in my eye!
Ok ok, I've been thoroughly nagged to update my journal, so here I am...
Actually I was intending to write, but the past couple of days have flown by. Anyway, I'm not going to talk about the argument, it got sorted, and if you
want to read about it you can go to DL's page, it's all there.

On thursday, went to uni in the morning, and didn't go to the gym as planned in the afternoon, because after staying up late on Wednesday night I was wacked!
Had a major pannick at lunch time because I thought the exam results were released that day, which turned out not to be correct, so I was slightly disappointed.
Spent most of Thursday afternoon reading a novel i'm engrossed in, but had to leave it alone to read other stuff for uni in the end. I've read one text
for this week, now have to read another, and a Shakespeare play, so on the whole not doing too badly. Thursday night, I got home to find DL all set to
give me a full pedicure, which was absolutely heavenly! She's never done it before, and I just felt so loved as she soaked them in warm water, then rubbed
them and cut and painted my toenails. I'm so damn lucky!
Had a meeting with my tutor on Friday morning, and she gave me back my mark for an essay and for the exam. The essay I'm thrilled with, the exam not so
much, I was one mark from getting the next grade up, which really pisses me off! My final essay has been sent to an external marker and isn't back yet,
but I'm hoping it's alright. After my meeting, spent a couple of hours in the gym, and came out feeling great. Then spent the rest of the afternoon ironing
and chatting on the phone to my mum.
It was really ironic actually, because she was saying how much snow they've had in my home city, and how some schools were closed and meetings at work cancelled
etc. Seriously, for anyone who lives outside the UK and is reading this, England goes in to total chaos when we have more than an inch of snow, and everything
stops. IT's madness! Anyway, I was saying to her that it was strange that we hadn't had any here, because we're usually one of the first places to get
it, and how disappointing it was. That night, DL and I went to see a play at the university drama studio, and as we stepped outside, DL said, "my god,
it's snowed!" At first I thought she was taking the piss, but then I stepped outside and there was a good couple of inches on the ground. It was really
strange because we'd been sitting in the living room just over an hour before, and the sun was shining outside, and no sign of snow at all. So god knows
how we missed that one! Anyway, the play wasn't that good, and afterwards we went to the supermarket to get bread, and as we stood in the car park, DL
threw a snowball at me and it went straight in my eye. Looking back it was very amusing, but at the time I thought it had scratched it or something, because
it started streaming and while we walked around the supermarket, I couldn't open it without the light really hurting it, but it turned out to be ok. The
downside was that by the morning the snow had mostly gone, so I never got to kick her ass in the snow!
Yesterday I was out all day doing volunteering, and we had a friend over last night for a drink. We didn't get up until late today, we're nearly at the
end of series one of Twenty Four, and so watched a couple of eppisodes while we had breakfast in bed. Aaahh, bliss! I intend to spend the rest of the day
doing work and finishing off the ironing. Also DL and I are going to cook a roast dinner together later, which we've not done for ages, so it'll be great
to take some time to spend with each other, after the madness of the past couple of days! Aahh, lovely!
